Audacy/Memphis Follow-Up:
Howl-allejah: As mentioned earlier this week (CAT 4/10), the Country format and "Wolf" brand of Audacy WLFP/Memphis will continue after that signal is sold to Educational Media Foundation (EMF) sometime this summer. WLFP Brand Mgr. Chris Michaels confirms the format will move to what is currently Hot AC WMC. Addtionally, current WMC morning co-host Erin Austin will take over middays on the new Wolf. Austin did middays at sister KILT/Houston for 10 years prior to joining WMC (CAT 4/26/21). Both of WLFP's drive time shows (Mo & Styckman in mornings and Duane & Abby in afternoons) will make the transition, while Audacy's national midday show with Katie Neal will contract to two hours. WLFP's current 94.1 signal operates with 50,000 watts, while its future home at 99.7 is a grandfathered "superpower" FM operating with 300,000 watts, well over the 100,000 watts limit put in place in 1962.
