Chronicle: Longtime George Strait road manager Tom Foote passed away Monday (4/29). The Houston native played drums while attending Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State). When Foote left to form a new band in 1975, he needed a new vocalist and Strait, a fellow student, replied to his ad. Soon after, the Ace In The Hole Band was formed. Foote moved from drums to road manager in 1983 – a position he never left. No word on services.

Duane-Eddy24.jpg

Veteran guitarist/producer Duane Eddy passed away April 30. He was 86. Eddy had a run of Pop hits in the late 1950s and early 1960s and developed a particular style of playing lead on the bass strings to produce a low, "twangy" sound. He was married to Jessi Colter from 1961 to 1966. Eddy's production work included the Buddy Holly medley on Waylon Jennings' 1978 I've Always Been Crazy. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2008, and in 2000 he was given the title "Titan of Twang" by the mayor of Nashville. No word on services.
