Daily Named Cumulus VP/Country
On the heels of his appointment as PD for WKDF & WSM-FM/Nashville (CAT 5/1), Travis Daily has been named Cumulus VP/Country, offering "content counsel" for the company's 55 Country stations. He assumes all of those duties from outgoing VP/Country Charlie Cook, who departs May 31 (CAT 2/15).
Says Cumulus Chief Content Officer Brian Philips: "When Charlie Cook told me he was departing, I was faced with one of the tougher decisions of my career: who could I trust to lead and represent our vast fleet of important Country stations with the finesse and character that Charlie did? On every front, Travis rises to the demands. Fresh from a fast, stunning turnaround at KUBL, he has demonstrated the creative and executive skills and style that set him apart from the rest.”
Adds Daily, "Storytelling is at the heart of every great Country song. As VP of Country, you’re not just shaping playlists; you are weaving narratives that resonate with listeners across Cumulus Media’s entire footprint of Country stations. Together with our talented programmers, we’ll harmonize tradition with innovation, ensuring that our stations remain a vibrant part of listeners’ lives."
Prior to his May 1 move to Nashville, Daily had been PD/afternoon host at Cumulus' KUBL/Salt Lake City for 17 months. Before that, he spent 17 years in Tampa, first at iHeartMedia WFUS and then at Beasley WQYK. Daily’s prior stops include KCCY/Colorado Springs. Reach him here.
