I Think Icon, I Think Icon:
"If Country is Top 40 and Classic Country is Oldies, Nash Icon is Hot AC," Cumulus EVP/co-COO John Dickey tells Country Aircheck. "It's really about capturing where the format has grown and creating a natural fragmentation that, like Hot AC or Adult Top 40, is more gold-based and enjoying a lot of success." But new music from these iconic artists – Dickey mentions Reba, Garth Brooks, The Judds, Faith Hill and more – is also a key part of the plan. As reported earlier via Breaking News, Twitter and Facebook, Big Machine Label Group is licensing the Nash Icon brand for music releases and live events.
"Partnering with [BMLG President/CEO] Scott Borchetta on a label will allow him to work with those [types of] artists on putting out new music and touring as we build a format and support what he's doing with long-form formatted stations, and branded and packaged programming made available outside our platform through WestwoodOne," Dickey says. "It's an entire ecosystem with live touring and our label partnership through a license to Scott on that piece of it, broadcast radio, short-form programming, video and print with Country Weekly and Nash magazine." A representative of BMLG declined comment on behalf of the company.
