Welsh Accent: Veteran programming consultant Pat Welsh has been named PD for Mt. Wilson KKGO/Los Angeles, succeeding Michael Levine, who had programmed the station since July 2016 (CAT 7/15/16) and remains in an executive role. Owner Saul Levine says, "He has a great background in Country radio ... in a more grassroots way than Michael or even myself. We are determined to regain our status as the nation's top Country station." Welsh had been PD for the station's HD-only Adult Standards channel, "Unforgettable FM" until earlier this year, and launched his own music programming consultancy in 2005. Levine says Welsh is an employee, but will maintain some consulting clients. This follow's last month's addition of Albright & O'Malley & Brenner Consulting Partner Kenny Jay as consultant (CAT 5/23). Levine adds, "This is not a major revolution. Just a tweak."
