Saga/Harrisonburg, VA OM & Classic Country WSIG Brand Mgr. JR Ruppel has been named PD for the company's WPOR/Portland, ME. He succeeds Crash Poteet, who is leaving the station due to family commitments (CAT 5/6). "It is always such a thrill to be able to take our programming talent and move them up to another market," says VP/Programming Bob Lawrence. "Moving up JR is a natural, wonderful opportunity for all of us." Reach Ruppel here.
Concurrently, former Monticello WCYK/Charlottesville, VA PD/afternoon host Paul "Uncle Pauly" McDaniel has been named as Ruppel's successor at Saga/Harrisonburg, serving as OM for the eight-station cluster and PD for WSIG, effective June 24. Since his departure from WCYK, McDaniel has been working with Summit/Richmond, VA in a part-time capacity (CAT 5/2). "I couldn't be more excited to grab the torch and build upon the success that JR and the winning team have created at Harrisonburg Radio Group," says McDaniel. Reach him here.
