Chronicle: Mike Borchetta Dies At 84
Long tenured record executive Mike Borchetta passed this morning (6/14) at the age of 84, surrounded by family. While serving as Pres. of Lofton Creek Records, Borchetta scored a No. 1 with Heartland's "I Loved Her First" in 2006. As VP/Promotion at Curb Records from the late '80s through mid-'90s, Borchetta was instrumental in signing Tim McGraw to the label. He promoted many other pop and country artists through the years, including Hal Ketchum, The Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, Glen Campbell, Dusty Springfield and Wayne Newton during stints at Broken Bow, Capitol, RCA, Mercury, Philips Records, Rebel Engine and his own promotion company. In addition to the music industry, Borchetta and his wife, Martha, bred and trained thoroughbred horses for decades. Several of Borchetta's children followed him into the music business, including Scott, Adelle, Chris and Angela. No word on services.
