Chronicle: Songwriter Larry W. Johnson passed away June 16 at age 69. Johnson penned more than 50 titles registered with BMI, but it was “Don’t Take The Girl,” released as a single by Tim McGraw in 1994, for which he was best known. The song went on to sell in excess of two million copies, earning accolades for Johnson and co-writer Craig Martin. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
