Double Beryl: With Category 1 Hurricane Beryl making landfall and moving across the market yesterday (7/8), Audacy KILT and Radio One KKBQ/Houston both shifted into storm mode. At KILT, The Morning Bull Pen is on vacation this week, so MD/afternoon host Nick Russo stepped in, covering both shifts. "We had a dozen from our team, including on-air personalities, program directors, engineers and our market manager, all jumping in broadcasting live for several dayparts in a row," says VP/Programming Melissa Chase. "[More than] three million people in our city lost power and it remains our job to serve them in every way we can to help them with recovery."

KKBQ OM Travis Moon says morning host Andy "Riggs" Riggle went in to the station Monday around 2am and wound up staying on the air until 2pm as midday host Corey Dillon was unable to leave his home. "It was really radio in its purest sense, it doesn't really matter about ratings or straddling quarter hours, the only thing is getting the information out," adds Moon. With more than 1.5 million people still without power today, the station is holding "93Q Power Hours" with Riggle and Dillon, making stops throughout the city with free water and charging stations.
