AI Chart Guidelines Proposed
Chart Throb: BMG, Concord, Hybe, Sony, UMG and Warner Music Group among others have proposed a set of principles to govern the eligibility of recordings developed with generative artificial intelligence services for inclusion in music charts. Under the proposed guidelines, a recording developed using AI would only qualify for chart inclusion if it meets three core criteria: The AI service used is properly authorized and lawful; the track is substantially human made; and, it does not raise stream or chart manipulation concerns. No word yet on next steps for the proposal.
