Screen shot 2016-03-07 at 4_33_57 PM.png Discovery Channels: Edison Research presented its 2024 Music Discovery Report, with 49% of Americans aged 12 and up saying that keeping up to date with music is important to them, down from 53% in 2016. Word of mouth is the most popular source of music discovery (82%), followed by YouTube (70%) and AM/FM radio (58%). In 2016, word of mouth and AM/FM radio tied for most important with 68% each, while Spotify jumped from from 25% then to 48% now. Spotify is also now the primary source for discovering new music overall, at 18%, it was at 4% in 2016. Word of mouth and YouTube follow at 16% each, and AM/FM radio drops from 28% to 13%.
