MTSU Re-names College For Scott Borchetta

Domn8 2 Educ8: In a ceremony today (8/26) on its Murfreesboro, TN campus, Middle Tennessee State University re-christened its College of Media and Entertainment as the Scott Borchetta College of Media and Entertainment, honoring the founder, Chairman & CEO of BMLG. Borchetta and his wife, Sandi Spika Borchetta, have pledged $15 million to the college – $10m of which has already been given – for "technological upgrades within the college and experiential learning opportunities for students," the school says. Media and Entertainment Dean Beverly Keel called Borchetta “our secret weapon” for the last several years, saying both Borchettas have given time and resources in support of various works at the university.
Noting the irony of a college dropout having one named for him, Scott said, "I quit because I quickly learned that college at that point couldn't teach me what I wanted to know ... because I wanted a real job in the record business." He added, "That 19-year-old me could not have imagined standing here today."
