Chronicle: Studio engineer
Billy D. Sherrill passed away Sept. 10. He was 77. The Kentucky native initially worked as an assistant engineer at Sound Shop in the early '70s before moving to Jack Clement Recording and eventually launching his own production company. In 2019, Sherrill was inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and also received The Audio Engineering Society's Lifetime Achievement Award. No word on services.
