Griffin 'EZL's Out:
Clear Channel's WEZL/Charleston, SC morning co-host Gary Griffin has retired after 37 years in the industry, 35 of them with 'EZL. Griffin started his career at a small daytime station in Moncks Corner, SC, where he doubled as sales rep and air personality. He joined 'EZL as a weekender in 1977, eventually rising to mornings in 1991. "He left on his terms, a rarity in this business, and will be missed by the staff and listeners," says partner Ric Rush. "It's believed that he's the longest-serving announcer in the same format and on the same station in South Carolina." Plans for the position will be announced soon.
