Chronicle: Country Radio Hall of Famer
James "Moby" Carney passed away today (9/20) after a battle with esophageal cancer. He was 69. Carney started his radio career in his hometown of Crossville, TN. From there he spent time in rock radio in Nashville, Tampa, Houston and Dallas. He entered the Country format at WKHX/Atlanta, where he handled mornings from 1991 to 2002, with then-owner ABC syndicating his show from 1993 to 1998. Carney launched his own syndicated
Moby In The Morning show in 2004. He was the ACM Personality of the Year in 1999, and was inducted into the CRHOF in 2012. Services are pending.
