Life Note: Richard Sterban, Raul Malo
Life Note: The Oak Ridge Boys' bass singer Richard Sterban was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March and has been off the road convalescing since mid-May. In a statement released today (9/25), he says, "Most days I’m feeling very good, and I hope to be back out on the road in several months.” Sterban has been a member of the band since 1972.
The Mavericks have cancelled all booked shows in the midst of frontman Raul Malo's ongoing cancer battle. He shared an update on social media yesterday (9/24), writing, "Things have taken a turn ... I’ve developed something called LMD ... Treatment for this is radiation, which I will start tomorrow. We will probably jump into some chemo, and are even looking at alternative therapies. But it’s time to take your words to heart of resting & recovering, so that’s what I’m going to do."
