Chronicle: Veteran personality and station owner J.J. Jeffrey passed away this morning (10/10). He was 84. Jeffrey made his name as a Top 40 air talent in the '60s and '70s at WMEX-AM and WRKO-AM/Boston, WFIL-AM/Philadelphia and WLS-AM/Chicago. He co-founded Fuller-Jeffrey Broadcasting in 1975, which owned WOKQ/Manchester, NH and launched KJJY/Des Moines in 1981 with the call letters selected as a nod to his name. The company sold the bulk of its stations to Citadel in 1997. The remaining stations in his home state of Maine later formed his own Atlantic Coast Radio, which still operates three stations in Portland. Jeffrey was inducted into the Maine Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 1997. No word on services.

Artist manager and music publisher Marty Gamblin died yesterday (10/9), according to local media reports in Mississippi, and a Facebook post from The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience (The Max), which he has been affiliated with since 2010, first as founding Exec. Dir. and, since 2019, as a consultant. He was 80. Gamblin had a four-decade-long career in Nashville and Los Angeles, managing artists including Alan Jackson, Bryan White, Pearl River and others, and serving as Pres. of Glen Campbell's publishing and management company, GC Music, for more than 20 years. In addition to the GC writers, Gamblin also worked the catalogs of songwriters Jim Weatherly, Gene Autry, Jimmy Webb and more. He was inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame in 2006. No word on services.
