Chronicle: Steve Massie
Chronicle: Radio and label vet Steve Massie passed away Tuesday (10/21). He was 76. Massie's career started in Top 40 radio before transitioning to promotion roles with Mercury and RSO in Minneapolis. He transitioned to country in 1981 with four years at Mercury followed by nine at CBS/Sony. Massie was named Nat'l Dir. for Almo Sounds in 1997, later partnering with Jack Pride to form Massie-Pride Promotions. His Steve Massie Productions compiled, produced and remastered dozens of releases in multiple genres for Varese Vintage, K-Tel and TJL Productions. No services are planned.
