Re-Tired: As reported last night (11/8) via Breaking News, Audacy/Kansas City OM & Country WDAF PD Mike Kennedy is retiring Dec. 17 from the cluster he joined more than two years ago. “This move is 100% my call,” Kennedy says. “I love the hard work our teams have put in the last two years to put these two brands on the map in Kansas City, and I will work vigorously through Dec. 17 and when needed after to make sure these kids are ready to continue what we’ve built into 2022 and beyond. To me, it’s still all about the people! That includes our station teams, the artists I have had the honor to work with for longer than I can remember, the relationships, the friendships and the listeners.” The Country Radio Hall of Famer first retired from crosstown Steel City KBEQ in 2016 after 40 years in radio and more than 25 with KBEQ (CAT 9/28/16). He resurfaced at WDAF in Sept. 2019 (CAT 9/3/19) where he has also handled programming duties for Hot AC sister KZPT. Reach Kennedy here through Dec. 17. No word on plans for the position.
