CMA Awards 2023 Recap

Watermelon Moon Shines: "I've been in this town for 12-and-a-half years, but I didn't start working on this 12-and-a-half years ago," Lainey Wilson told the press room after winning EOTY at last night's (11/8) 57th Annual CMA Awards. "I started working on this when I was nine years old." Wilson joins Garth Brooks as the only artists to be named EOTY the year after winning New Artist/Horizon awards.

Additional highlights included 39-year-old Jelly Roll shattering expectations ... and the New Artist trophy; Eric Church's surprise performance alongside Morgan Wallen; and Tracy Chapman becoming the first Black songwriter to win Song of the Year with "Fast Car." Chris Stapleton scored his 16th overall win with Male Vocalist, tying him for third in all time wins, while both Brothers Osborne (Vocal Duo) and Old Dominion (Vocal Group) took home their sixth wins in their respective categories.
