Chronicle: Bill Ivey, Ernie Williams
Chronicle: Former Country Music Hall of Fame CEO Bill Ivey died Nov. 7 at the age of 81. After beginning his career as a librarian for the Country Music Foundation, Ivey went on to serve as CMHoF&M CEO from 1971 to 1997, and was one of the founding council members for Nashville's Leadership Music program and a member of its board for the first five years. He also served as president of the Recording Academy, chaired its board and was a Senior Advisor to the Mike Curb Foundation. He served four years as Chair of the National Endowment for the Arts before joining Vanderbilt University as founding director of the Curb Center for Art, Enterprise and Public Policy. Arrangements are pending.
Ernest "Ernie" Williams III, a Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum Board member for 31 years and a Trustee for 17, died Nov. 7 at the age of 84. Funeral services are set for 3:30pm Nov. 18 at St. George’s Episcopal Church (4715 Harding Pike, Nashville) with visitation beginning at 1:30pm. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Board of Officers and Trustees will serve as honorary pallbearers.
