Terry On My Wayward Son: As reported earlier via Facebook and Twitter, longtime KSCS/Dallas morning personality and Country Radio Hall of Famer Terry Dorsey is retiring after nearly 50 years in radio, 33 of them in Dallas and the last 26 at KSCS. His last day is Dec. 17, after which he and wife Claudia will move to Illinois to be closer to family. Dorsey's Country career began at WONE/Dayton in 1977. He was first hired in Dallas at KPLX in 1981, joined then-crosstown KSCS in 1988 and was inducted into the CRHOF in 2007. Hear Dorsey break the news this morning (12/9), read more from The Dallas Morning News here and reach him here.
"There are people in the metroplex that have never heard Dallas radio without Terry Dorsey, and I've worked with him almost all of my career," says co-host Mark "Hawkeye" Louis. "I'm in shock along with everyone else. I wish him a wonderful retirement!" Adds RVP/MM Dan Bennett, "Terry's contribution to Dallas/Fort Worth radio is monumental. He is an iconic figure in our industry and we are all better because Terry Dorsey was in it."
Meanwhile, the search for Dorsey's replacement is underway and the job will be posted soon here. For now, send airchecks and resumes to OM/PD JR Schumann here. Schumann tells Country Aircheck the show will move forward with Hawkeye as host and Trapper John and Dorsey's replacement as co-hosts.
