Chronicle: Our condolences are extended to the family and friends of Country Radio Hall of Famer Ramblin' Lou Schriver, who died Sunday (1/17) at age 86 after battling heart problems. Schriver was a musician and Classic Country WXRL-AM/Lancaster-Buffalo, NY owner/host. He got his start in radio in 1947 at WJJL-AM/Niagra Falls, NY. Schriver bought then-WMMJ/Lancaster went on the market in 1970, changing its call letters to WXRL. In 1985 he was inducted into the Country Radio Hall Of Fame. He was a member of the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame, the Buffalo Broadcasters Hall of Fame and a lifetime member of the Country Music Association. A funeral service will be held Friday (1/22) at Salem United Church of Christ, 114 Morgan St., Tonawana, NY. More info here.
Our sympathies also go out to the family and friends of VP/Erv Woolsey Company Danny O'Brian, who died Sunday (1/17) in Nashville at age 73. O'Brian was George Strait's longtime agent and had been with the company since 1985. Visitation will be Thursday (1/21) 4-8pm at Hendersonville Memory Gardens in Hendersonville, TN, with a memorial service at the same location Friday (1/22) at 11am.
Finally, our condolences to the family and friends of guitarist/composer Pete Huttlinger, who died Friday (1/15) following a stroke at age 54. Huttlinger was best known as the late John Denver's lead guitar player and had also toured with LeAnn Rimes and Hall & Oates' John Oates. In 2015 Huttlinger, together with his wife and manager, Nashville publicist Erin Morris, released a memoir about Huttlinger's lifelong physical battle against a rare heart defect (CAW 10/5/15). A Go Fund Me account has been set up by a family friend here to cover any leftover medical expenses. Arrangements are pending and Morris says a Celebration of Life will take place in Nashville later this year.
Mo' Bueno: Hearts Bluff Music has acquired the rights to the Muy Bueno Music catalog. Muy Bueno, founded by George Strait and manager Erv Woolsey, includes Strait hits "Baby Blue" and "Write This Down," Lorrie Morgan's "What Part Of No," Lonestar's "What About Now" and Gary Allan's "It Would Be You." The Hearts Bluff catalog includes classics "When A Man Loves A Woman" and "Oh, Pretty Woman."

Joint Rolling Artist managers Erv Woolsey and Enzo DeVincenzo have entered into a joint venture to manage and develop new country acts. Lee Ann Womack will be managed through the co-venture. Also, Lee Brice has signed with the new company for representation.
A Daze At The Races Clear Channel's WAMZ/Louisville PD/PM driver Coyote Calhoun hosted his annual soiree last Saturday, which is centered around the final day of racing at famed Churchill Downs. As is tradition, a contingent of industry folks from Nashville made the three-hour drive up I-65 to wager, wine and dine with Coyote. Still standing (barely) in this touch-out-of-focus photo (which looked perfectly fine to us Saturday night) are a bunch of Coyote's Louisville friends along with (l-r) Audra Briner, Carolyn Parks Shindler, Valory's George Briner, Coyote, Mercury's Bruce Shindler, and Anne and Lon Helton. Haley's Comment Mercury Director/Southeast Regional Promotion Haley McLemoreis leaving the label to join Enzo DeVincenzo's 377 Management. She joins 377 to work with Curb/Asylum artist Lee Brice, who is co-managed by 377 and The Erv Woolsey Company. McLemore, who starts June 15, told Country Aircheck, "It's so hard to leave Mercury - I love and respect everybody here. But there comes a time when you have to spread your wings and fly. The Show Must Go On ... Later: MCA's George Strait stopped his Saturday night show in Kansas City (2/25), telling the crowd he was too ill to continue. The concert has been rescheduled for Saturday (3/3). According to his website, Strait and Erv Woolsey Management had contemplated the issue prior to the show and prepared a backup plan in case of cancellation. Original tickets will be honored for the new date.
