KHLR Releases On-Air Staff:
Signal KHLR/Little Rock, AR morning host Doug Kramer has exited after seven months, and midday host AJ Parker and afternoon personality Ashley King will be released soon. “[AJ and Ashley] will continue to work for 30 days ... [and] after that, The Ride won’t have any on-air personalities,” PD Mike Kennedy tells Country Aircheck of the music-only approach. Kennedy remains in his programming role and cites financial hardships brought on by COVID-19 for the cutbacks. Kramer joined in April (CAT 4/13) following stops in New Orleans and Oklahoma City. Parker took middays at KHLR in 2016 (CAT 2/23/16) shortly after the station flipped from AC (CAT 8/23/15) and has handled both middays and afternoons during her tenure. King has been with the station since May (CAT 5/1) following time with crosstown iHeartMedia KSSN. Her prior career stops include iHeartMedia/Fayetteville, AR; WIVK/Knoxville; and KHPQ/Clinton, AR. “I’m not sure if I’ll stay in radio or not right now,” shares Kramer via Facebook. “I’m one-and-a-half months shy of my 28th year in radio, so I can say it was a good run.” King will continue to host local CBS-TV affiliate lifestyle and entertainment show The Vine and is also looking to pick up additional voice work.
