BMLGR's Hargis To Leave: As reported via Breaking News, BMLG Records SVP/Promotion & Marketing Matthew Hargis is leaving the industry to spend more time with his family. “Matthew led the BMLG Records promotion team to 38 No. 1 singles in just 11 years,” shares Pres./CEO Jimmy Harnen in an internal memo obtained by Country Aircheck. Adds Hargis, “Our children have reached an age where my wife and I believe the focus needs to be on them for these foundational years. I have been blessed by the last 22 years in this amazing country music community which has afforded me the ability to take some time away. I am forever grateful for the opportunities [BMLG CEO/Chairman] Scott [Borchetta], Jimmy and all of our world-class artists have provided me at BMLG Records, as well as our previous stints together at DreamWorks and Capitol. It is bittersweet to leave BMLG, but it is the right decision for our family at this time.” Hargis joined then-Republic Nashville in 2011 (CAT 1/25/11) following time with DreamWorks, Capitol and All Access. He was elevated to his most recent post in 2020 (CAT 11/2/20). Harnen is searching for Hargis’ successor; interested applicants can send résumés here. Hargis will stay on through the transition and can be reached here.
