Alpha Flips To Country In San Jose:
Alpha Classic Hits KBAY/San Jose flipped to Country this afternoon at 3pm PT as "Bay Country 94-5," with sister AC KKDV at 92.1 joining in a simulcast tomorrow (4/6). The move comes 13 days after the sale and imminent format change of the Bay Area's sole Country station, Empire KRTY/San Jose, was announced (CAT 3/23). "With the recent sale of KRTY, the County format would have no longer been offered," says MM David Drutz. "We feel strongly that Country is a format that the market deserves, and we are excited to keep it alive and well in the Bay Area with much greater coverage than ever before." A company representative estimates a 30%-40% city grade signal over San Francisco.
Premiere syndicated The Bobby Bones Show will be in mornings beginning April 15, with a local staff to be announced in other dayparts. KRTY pulled a station record 7.5 share in the San Jose February Nielsen ratings (CAT 3/21) and a 1.8 share in San Francisco. Bay Country transitioned from Brittney Spears' "Baby One More Time" to Thomas Rhett's "What's Your Country Song" at 3pm local time. Listen here.
