Mabe She's Born With It: As reported via Breaking News, UMG/Nashville Pres. Cindy Mabe will rise to Chair/CEO effective April 1 making her the first woman to lead a Nashville-based major label group. “[Cindy] is a transformational executive who has a distinguished track record of designing and implementing innovative strategies to help build artists’ careers and bring their music to fans around the world,” says UMG Chairman/CEO Sir Lucian Grainge. “Cindy’s credibility in the artist community and her deep experience will help us deliver countless additional artists’ successes going forward.” Mabe succeeds Mike Dungan, who announced his impending March retirement yesterday (CAT 1/10). She began her career at RCA/Nashville as Coord./Promotions in 1994 before segueing to Arista/Nashville as Sr. Dir./Marketing & Artist Development in 1999 where she was part of Dungan’s team. Mabe rejoined Dungan at Capitol/Nashville in 2007 (CAT 3/6/07) and served as SVP/Marketing from 2009-2012.
