Two's Company: Former then-Entercom/Phoenix VP/Branding Tim Richards and former Cox VP/Programming Steve Smith have joined with McIvor Marketing owner Heidi McIvor-Allen to launch the Smith Richards Collective (SRC) radio consulting group. “This is a full-service venture offering a wide spectrum of services that can be tailored to each client’s unique needs,” says Richards. Adds Smith, “At the most comprehensive level, SRC has the ability to assist in programming an entire cluster or group of stations in all formats.” In addition to coaching talent, SRC offers services including brand growth and strategy, music strategy and scheduling, producing, imaging, and locating quality talent. McIvor Marketing offers digital resources and support including email marketing, social and digital advertising, and website development, now embedded in SRC.
Richards left Entercom in 2020 after seven years amid a companywide restructuring (CAT 9/10/20). He previously spent two years as iHeartMedia Top 40 KZZP/Phoenix PD and 10 years as Show Dir. for the company’s syndicated Johnjay & Rich show and had career stops in Detroit, Chicago, Tucson and Boston. He launched Tim Richards Media last year (CAT 2/4/21) and can be reached here. Smith resigned from Cox in November (CAT 11/3/21) after more than a decade. He provided strategic counsel for CMG’s 65 stations in 11 markets during his tenure and has prior programming stops at Emmis, then-Clear Channel and AMFM. Reach Smith here. More info here.
