UMG Nashville Overhauled With New Name, Staffers

Workin' For MCA: In a move the company says "cements [its] commitment to Nashville as a nexus of artistic innovation," UMG/Nashville has rebranded as Music Corporation of America (MCA) under the leadership of Pres./CEO Mike Harris and CCO Dave Cobb, as reported this morning (4/24) via Breaking News. Joining the company as EVP/GM, effective May 5, is former Monument GM Katie McCartney. Tom LaScola has been named Head/Artist & Audience Strategy in an alliance with his company, The Trenches. Songwriter Jessie Jo Dillon has been named Song Buddy, a new position developed by Cobb.
Hot Air: The company says it will continue to operate imprints Mercury, EMI Nashville, Capitol and MCA, as well as the Cobb-founded and newly launched Lucille Records, but promotion team consolidation is rumored to be underway.
Lucille will be overseen by Cobb and Island VP/A&R Austin Jenkins, who has been named SVP/A&R for MCA and Head of Lucille. Its artist roster includes Lamont Landers, Landon Smith, Isabel Dumas and Sons of Habit. The press release about the UMG changes was issued out of NY by Republic Records.
Harris rejoined and Cobb joined the company in February (Breaking News 2/6). McCartney departed Monument when the label folded earlier this month (Breaking News 4/2). Jenkins rose to VP/A&R at Island last year (CAT 6/7/24).
