Apollo Greed: Cox Enterprises has reached an agreement to sell Cox Media Group's 60 radio stations across 11 markets including eight Country outlets – WHKO/Dayton, OH; KKBQ & KTHT/Houston; WWKA/Orlando; KCYY & KKYX-AM/San Antonio; KWEN/Tulsa and WNGC/Athens, GA – as well as its CoxReps and Gamut national advertising businesses, to a new company substantially owned by affiliates of Apollo Global Management. The agreement is an extension of the company's February acquisition of Cox Media's television business as well as Ohio properties including WHKO/Dayton (CAT 2/15). Cox Enterprises will maintain a minority stake in the new company, which will retain the name Cox Media Group, and will be headquartered in Atlanta. To comply with FCC ownership limits, Apollo intends to divest two FM stations, one each in Orlando and Tampa. "We are happy our Cox radio and national ad platforms will continue to be operated with our television group," says Cox Enterprises CEO Alex Taylor. "Keeping these businesses together gives us even more confidence in the future success of the new company."
