Chiang Up At Cox:
As reported via Breaking News, Johnny Chiang has been named Format Leader for Cox's six Country stations in addition to his role as Houston OM & Country KKBQ PD. KKBQ APD/MD Christi Brooks takes over as Dir./Branding & Programming for Country sister KCYY/San Antonio Nov. 2. They succeed Format Leader, Cox/San Antonio OM & Country KCYY PD Jeff Garrison, whose last day was yesterday (10/19). KKBQ afternoon personality Caitlin “CJ” Johnson transitions to APD/MD succeeding Brooks. “Johnny, Christi and CJ are brilliant programmers, thoughtful leaders, esteemed and respected on-air talent and all-around great people,” says EVP/Radio Bill Hendrich. “Their passion for the industry and helping others will be the cornerstone of their success in their new roles."
Garrison joined KKBQ in 1993 before stops in Greenville, SC and Phoenix, returning to become then-CBS Radio VP/Country. He has served as Cox Format Leader from San Antonio since 2013 (CAT 8/28/13) and was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame last year (CAT 2/13/19). Reach him at 281-923-8448 or via email here.
