Connoisseur Acquires Alpha: As reported via Breaking News, Connoisseur Media is acquiring Alpha Media. No terms have been disclosed. Closing is expected in Q2 pending FCC approval, but the companies have agreed to an LMA in the interim. The new Connoisseur, which will continue to be led by CEO Jeff Warshaw, will mushroom from 11 stations in New York and Connecticut to 218 stations, more than 100 of which have footprints in 28 rated markets, placing it in the top 10 in station count and revenue. Connoisseur's sole Country outlet, WWWF/Nassau-Suffolk, will be joined by more than two dozen in the Alpha roster, including KUPL/Portland, OR; KBAY/San Jose and the WCCQ & WXLC simulcast in suburban Chicago.

Connoisseur Media has agreed to acquire Alpha Media, creating a top 10 radio company with 218 stations in 47 markets. The new company will retain the Connoisseur name and be led by Connoisseur CEO Jeff Warshaw. "We are thrilled to welcome Alpha Media into the Connoisseur family," says Warshaw. "In getting to know the Alpha team, it has become clear that we share many of the same values: a passion for serving our local communities, a deep commitment to our clients, supporting our colleagues and fostering a culture of integrity, creativity and achievement." No word on terms of the deal. Connoisseur owns Country WWWF/Nassau-Suffolk. Alpha's Country roster includes KUPL/Portland, OR; KBAY/San Jose and the WCCQ & WXLC simulcast in suburban Chicago.

Backstage Pass: Former Westwood One Nights With Elaina host Elaina Smith has been named host of Beasley Media Group and Key Networks' syndicated Backstage Country show, which is co-hosted with a different artist each week. Smith succeeds Kelly Ford, who took over last February (CAT 1/29/24), and remains MD/afternoon host at WWWF/ Nassau-Suffolk. Smith makes her debut on the four-hour weeknight show Feb. 17 with Riley Green. She joined the syndicated Nash Nights Live as host in 2013 from mornings at WAOA/Melbourne, FL. The show rebranded to Nights With Elaina in 2020 (CAT 1/8/2020).

Ford Fairlane: Connoisseur WWWF/ Nassau-Suffolk afternoon host Kelly Ford has added MD stripes. The station launched as "103.1 The Wolf" in March (CAT 3/20), and Ford joined Aug. 1 (CAT 7/15). She says the move "feels like a natural evolution in my career, allowing me to deepen the relationships I've built over the years in Country radio and Nashville. I’m pumped to collaborate with our amazing team under the leadership of [PD] Patrick Shea to help shape The Wolf.” Ford remains host of Key Networks and Beasley Broadcast Group's syndicated Backstage Country, which is heard in 80 markets. She previously did mornings at WNSH/New York, KYGO/Denver and was part of the Westwood One-syndicated Ty, Kelly & Chuck show.

Wolf Whistle: Connoisseur WWWF/Nassau-Suffolk adds Country radio veteran Kelly Ford for afternoons, effective Aug 1. The station launched as "103.1 The Wolf" in March (CAT 3/20). Ford will be based in New York, but will fly back and forth to Nashville, where she continues to host Key Networks and Beasley Broadcast Group's syndicated Backstage Country, which is heard in 80 markets. Ford previously did mornings at WNSH/New York, KYGO/Denver and was part of the Westwood One-syndicated Ty, Kelly & Chuck show. WWWF PD Patrick Shea says Ford's "enthusiasm and dedication to country music are evident, and we know she will be a fantastic addition to our team."

Why The Long Island Face?: Connoisseur WWWF/Nassau-Suffolk has added Compass/Silverfish Media's Big D & Bubba in morning drive starting May 6. "We’re thrilled to introduce Big D & Bubba to Long Island and 103.1 The Wolf,” says OM Patrick Shea. The station debuted in March (CAT 3/20) and added Alexa Neo in middays last month (CAT 4/15).
