Flip-opotamus: As reported yesterday (9/3) via Breaking News, iHeartMedia Country WEBG (Big 95.5)/Chicago flipped to Rock as “Rock 95-Five” at 5pm CT. The station will now feature a playlist including Nirvana, Linkin Park, Pearl Jam, Def Leppard, Foo Fighters and Green Day. Stunting began yesterday at 11am CT as Roy Rogers’ “Happy Trails” followed the final song in WEBG’s Country playlist, Kip Moore’s “She’s Mine” (CAT 9/3).

iHeart flipped Regional Mexican WNUA to Country as “Big” in 2015 (CAT 1/5/15) to compete against crosstown then-CBS Radio Country WUSN. In this week’s August 2020 PPM release (RATS 8/31), WUSN pulled a 2.3 (20) and had a cume of 735,600 compared to WEBG’s 2.1 (21) and 573,900 cume. No word on staffing changes, including the status of PD/night host Lance Houston, APD/afternoon personality Brooke Taylor and Country Radio Hall of Fame midday host Lisa Dent; nationally syndicated The Bobby Bones Show was previously heard in mornings. iHeart will still offer a Country outlet via its WEBG-HD2 signal, which can be streamed here.
