Parr-Key Time: Key Networks nationally syndicated Shawn Parr’s Across The Country host Shawn Parr and Beasley-backed national Backstage Country are combining as Shawn Parr’s Backstage Country effective Feb. 27. Key will handle distribution of the show to more than 70 affiliates, including Beasley Country outlets WKLB/Boston, WXTU/Philadelphia, WQYK/Tampa, KCYE/Las Vegas, WSOC/Charlotte, WKXC/Augusta and WKML/Fayetteville, AR. “It’s a pleasure to partner with Key Networks to bring two great Country brands together and more than double our reach,” says Beasley Chief Content Officer Justin Chase. “We’ve been longtime fans of Shawn Parr and couldn’t be prouder to have him host the new Backstage Country show alongside some of the biggest national recording artists!”
Backstage Country launched in 2020 as a United Stations product with a daily five-hour show hosted by different country artists each week (CAT 7/23/2020). Adrian Kulp joined as Exec. Prod. prior to the show’s September launch (CAT 9/2/2020), and John Shomby onboarded as Talent Relations Consultant in October of the same year (CAT 10/1/20). In the new, Key Networks iteration of Backstage Country, Shomby remains in the same capacity and can be reached here. Kulp exits and is now looking for his next opportunity. His prior stops include Westwood One The Ty Bentli Show, Happy Madison, Borderline Amazing, CBS’ The Late Late Show, The Huffington Post and Parents Magazine. Reach Kulp here.
Parr and Key originally partnered in 2020 (CAT 5/28/20) with a 16-affiliate launch. His four-hour, localized show was made available for any weekday daypart. The new iteration of Backstage Country is also made available for any daypart, Monday-Friday, and is delivered via FTP. Prior to conceptualizing his Across The Country format (CAT 4/20/20), Parr spent nearly six years with Westwood One syndicated Nash Nights Live. His prior stops include KZLA/Los Angeles and KKGO/Los Angeles in addition to 27 years as the voice of Dick Clark Productions. Reach Parr here.
