Boomer Has It: Cumulus/Indianapolis & Country WFMS PD Christopher “Boomer” Layfield has added OM duties for Top 40 WZPL, AC WNTR and Sports WXNT-AM. He takes over for JR Ammons, who joined Audacy/Kansas City in January (CAT 1/24). “When we were lucky enough to get Boomer to join our team as OM over WFMS, [Classic Hits] WJJK and [Rock] WNDX, I thought, ‘Wow, we just go so much stronger in Indianapolis!’” says VP/Programming Operations Doug Hamand. “Now to elevate him to lead the entire station group ... the whole cluster’s bar was just raised!” Layfield joined in 2018 (CAT 3/20/18) following time in Charlotte, St. Louis, Richmond, San Diego and Nashville.
